Today is Breakaway Day. In the 70’s sci-fi show, Space: 1999, the moon was blasted out of the Earth’s orbit and hurled into space, along with the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha. Each week they encountered different alien civilizations as they drifted by. Completely stupid from a scientific point of view, but I absolutely loved it as a kid. I’ll still watch some of the old episodes from time to time.
