Make a Lasting Hero
Choose a race, faction, class, and specialization. A character made years ago can still be part of your adventures today.
A new player’s field guide
World of Warcraft can look enormous from the outside. This personal guide breaks it into human-sized choices: who you want to be, how you want to play, and what kind of story you want to chase.

The living world
World of Warcraft is not one straight campaign. It is a huge, persistent setting where your character can grow for years and your interests decide the route.
Choose a race, faction, class, and specialization. A character made years ago can still be part of your adventures today.
Follow the story, collect appearances and mounts, craft, explore, decorate a home, tackle dungeons, or simply wander.
Adventure alone, bring a few friends, join a guild, or meet other players while crossing a world that is always active.
The adventure ahead
There is no single correct way to play. These are the major parts of the experience you will encounter.
Quests introduce the people, conflicts, and regions of Azeroth. They also teach your abilities at a comfortable pace while taking you through the landscape.
Open-world events, story chapters, delves, and dungeons let you choose between a quiet session and a coordinated group adventure.
Tanks protect the group, healers keep it standing, and damage dealers fight from up close or at range. Many classes can switch between roles.
Gather materials, make useful items, collect armor appearances, hunt rare mounts and pets, or focus on the pieces of Azeroth that feel like home.
