We went and saw Primus last weekend at the St Augustine Amphitheatre. It was the first time we had been out to a big event in more than two years. We had a blast.
The opening act was a duo called Battles. They’re described as “experimental rock”. It wasn’t our usual genre, but we enjoyed it.
Primus took the stage and sounded fantastic. Les Claypool is a master on the bass guitar. Being a 3-piece band, everything was clear.
The song “Conspiranoia” was a highlight of the night for me.
They took a break, then came out and played the entire Rush album “A Farewell to Kings”. It was almost note for note, and the closest I’ll ever come to seeing Rush live again.
They did more of their own songs and finished with Winona’s Big Brown Beaver.
We had a great time and can’t wait to do some more shows in St Augustine. Fantastic venue.
