Here’s a blast from my past. My character Shanghai fighting Spawn. I drew this back in 1996, when Spawn was brand new. I had high hopes for my dragon-girl, but I haven’t gotten her to catch on mainstream yet.
I did two self-published books with her in the 90s, which sold about 3k each in comic shops. I recently re-launched her, but sold only through Kickstarter and conventions, so my numbers are much lower.
Small press definitely needs a better option to get into comic book stores.
