I’ve been working with some new software lately that uses AI to enhance photos, and it’s the perfect chance to experiment on some old family images. Most of them are very low resolution and on the blurry side. I’ve been amazed at the level of detail I’ve been able to bring out, particularly on faces. Colorization takes a bit of manual cleanup, but it’s giving some nice results so far.
This is an image of my grandfather, John Whiting Sr., before and then the work in progress. The original was probably taken around 1920, so the photo is about a hundred years old.
